Our puppies are available to pet homes only and are sold with AKC limited registration. Visit www.akc.org for an explanation of limited and full registration. We require a spay/neuter agreement for our puppies-meaning you agree to spay or neuter your puppy at the vet-recommended age-usually 6 months. This helps eliminate many behavioral and health problems people have with their dogs, as well as prevent unwanted pregnancies and mixed-breed puppies.
A $300 non-refundable deposit in the form of a post-office money order (a money order purchased at any United States Post Office) is required to hold a puppy until it's ready to go. The balance due (purchase price - $300 deposit) is due in cash when the puppy is picked up. We do not take checks or credit cards due to the prevalent fraud with these two forms. Email brfarm@charter.net or call 828-758-4063 if you're interested in one of these puppies. Prices subject to change at any time.
Puppies are not available to be seen in person until a week after their first vaccines per veterinary advice. This means they can't be seen in person until 7 weeks of age or older as they have their first vaccines at 6 weeks. This is to insure the safety of the puppies and prevent them from possible exposure to diseases before vaccination. This may be difficult for some to understand but parvo is very prevalent in our area and we want to keep our puppies safe.
We do not sell any puppy before 8 weeks of age. There is no benefit to bringing a puppy home too early. Occasionally we have older puppies available. Older puppies are often easier to train than the younger puppies and bond just as well with their new families.
A few basic items are needed when bringing home your new puppy. We recommend the purchase of a metal crate for housebreaking and sleeping in until the puppy is trained. One with a plastic or metal pull-out try on the bottom makes cleaning easier. The new puppy will also need a food and water dish. I love the Lixit Quick-Lock Crocks that are available at many pet locations. Our puppies are started out on Iams Original Puppy dry dog food. We also offer Iams Puppy Biscuits as treats. A lightweight collar and leash should be purchased. If children are going to be walking the puppy I recommend a harness instead of a collar. This will prevent the puppy from slipping out of the collar. The earlier the puppy gets started with the collar and leash, the easier it will be.
Also have available some new toys. We have found that all of our Bichons love the stuffed animal toys made for dogs. These also help with the transition to their new home and leaving their siblings. Make sure you purchase the ones made specifically for dogs because they don't have the eyes and noses that can be removed and choked on by your puppy. Also provide a few chew bones for the new puppy. Reading a few books or articles on the internet on dog training can be very helpful before your puppy comes home.
